Captain's Log

24/07/05
Music gear is too darn expensive, which is why nature evolved Ebay, probably. Now the bidding's over, we're all tooled up with a new condenser Mic and a preamp / compressor, ready to get more new songs demoed. New toys always make the recording process that bit more exciting don'tcha think?
We usually give ourself deadlines for new material, just so we can disappoint people, and today is no exception, so here goes: We're hoping to have a new ep ready by Christmas... ok then, don't believe us! And we will be playing live before the end of the century too, so there.
As you'll notice from a quick perusal of the site, there's no message board or forum - we've always thought it's too much of a pain in the arse to organise. Well, our opinion is still the same, but if you want to leave us comments, just go to our twin site at MySpace.com, where you can tell everyone how much you love us whilst listening to some more of our tunes! Hurry kids, time's a wastin'...

Ok, for all our American or European-insomniac fans, we'll be played on US radio this Wednesday (13th July) between 4am-7am UK time on Theory Radio. Don't just tune in for us though, it's a great show featuring tons of bands we know you'll like!
Oh, and we've gone top 10 - in July's Karmadownload Unsigned Chart: Hey, it was just a matter of time...

So, we're Track Of The Day on Garageband today, we're also 'Best Melody in Alternative Pop' for the whole darn week and another downright smashing review has come in (this time from roomthirteen.com).
Our studio is working again, The Captain is all smiles and we found a penny on the way home. Does it get any better than this?

Anyhoo, we're reaching dizzy heights in the Garageband Alt Pop charts, currently breaking into the Top 20! Although obviously we're keeping our finger's crossed that Crazy Frog doesn't upload anything on the GB site, seeing as he's annihilating everything in his path at the moment. Whether he does or not, we're still going to be 'Track Of The Day' this Thursday, which is a fleeting honour, but one we appreciate nontheless!
We've also had another two enthusiastic reviews - can anyone see a pattern here?? Sandman Magazine is out on Thursday but here's a sneak preview of their review "...10 beautifully constructed tracks of good honest pop music that sound both excitingly fresh, yet reassuringly familiar".
Whisperin and Hollerin give us an above average 7/10, struggling slightly with the fact they like us even though we're not 'fashionable', writing: "'No Guarantees' and 'Singer Wanted, Preferably Dead' are maybe songs that make people mention Radiohead - but they shouldn’t really. Not unless you think that Thom Yorke is the only Brit since the Beatles to write classic pop songs about interesting subjects for people over the age of 14.": We nevah sed nuffin, awlrite?
The Captain wishes he was at Glastonbury, if only for the surfing, but there's work to be done and it won't do itself...
Before we forget, Thank You Carl, for sorting out our hard drive; the live gigs are that bit closer now!

"Each song is brightly polished, alluring, fuzzy pop gem waiting to be discovered." or at least that's HeathenAngel's take on 'Mindfilming'. We're not going to argue, seeing as that pretty much sums up what we were thinking!
Don't know what the weather's like near you, but we've been melting round here the last few days. This could explain why our studio just broke, or it might not! Anyway, it's not going to set back our plans for universe conquering - we WILL be out and about soon, even if it's just busking on a street-corner: Live is where we're at!
Randomly zigzagging to another topic... Garageband has come up with the goods again. The Captain insists - that's right, insists that you check out Muller and Patton who are deservedly just ahead of us in Round 2 of the Garageband charts. We won't defile them with common comparisons, but suffice it to say they know how to write a song!
Remember the world isn't a fair place whilst bands like this aren't knocking Crazy Frog off the top of the charts...

We've already had a bunch of reviews on Garageband.com which have propelled our tune to around 75th in the Alt. pop charts. You heard it right, number 75! With a bullet!
Amazingly enough, this week we've won the reviewer's picks award for 'Best Keyboards' in Alt pop too.
*dreams* Thank you, thank you all. Wow, we really didn't expect to win this award - I mean to be in such amazing company... *modest pause* Anyway, we'd like to thank our manager, our label, our mums and dads, *sniff*, and of course, we couldn't have done it without you *adoring gaze*, our devoted fans. We love you, we really do, *sob*; oh, it's all too much *in tears, is waltzed offstage*
Here's a little secret! We played it all the keyboard parts with one finger and multi-tracked it! Eat yer heart out Ben Folds, eh?
Hmmm, where were we? Oh yeah, The Captain wants to say hi to all our new friends at MySpace.com, there's quite the little music community thang going on there...

Busy Busy Busy...
Radish in Chapel Allerton now has copies of the album for sale at a reasonable £8.
KarmaDownload.com will have every song on the album available to download in MP3 and AAC format from Tues 14th June.
A Very British Earthquake is now climbing the 'Alternative Pop' charts from being reviewed on Garageband.com. Wonder if it'll eclipse Vaselined Eyes earlier success?

Here is The Captain with today's news.
Having had a blinding flash of inspiration (indirectly through Di and Sam) we're now being distributed online by CDBaby.com which means you have even more ways of getting your mits on our luvverley songs. We recommend you check out the site even if you've already bought your copy of 'Mindfilming' as there's some seriously good stuff on the site that you almost certainly haven't heard of yet!
Breaking news: we're now a featured band on Gojangle. Aren't we doing well?
And finally, we've set up a second home at MySpace.com where you can meet up with lots of like minded music obsessed freaks like yourselves (Well, we speak for ourselves!). Good night... (Roll British anthem).
