Captain's Log

24/05/05
Following in the tradition of many great UK bands, we're making waves in Germany before the rest of the world takes notice. Erm, well that's one way of putting it... However a more accurate description is that tracks from the album are being played at Hamburg's renowned King Kong Club and I have it on good authority that people are dancing! (Cheers Franky!) And we have to say that it is a privilege to be sandwiched between the Cure's 'Just Like Heaven' and The Pixes 'Here Comes Your Man' in the playlist. Yes indeed! So if you happen to be in the club next week, make sure you get in your request.

So there we were, minding our own business when all of a sudden, bosh, Gojangle got in touch enquiring if we'd like to be on their rather splendid new site. "Yes", we said and the rest, as you can imagine, is history.

To all those of you who've been badgering us, all the lyrics from the album are now here. Now leave the damn badger alone. (Sorry, couldn't help ourselves there...)

The reviews they keep a rollin' in. Leeds Music Scene have given us a 4/5 star rating, which makes us feel all special and loved whilst Russ at Russell's Reviews echoes their sentiment i.e. "sometimes some good tunes are all you need.". Russell, the Captain couldn't agree more. As such, check out the mighty Magic Numbers, who know how to glue a song together; And, 'cos we haven't mentioned them in a while, we'd like to reiterate that Misty's Big Adventure are still masters of a catchy hook!
Back to shameless self promotion: Have you bought the album yet? If not, and you live in Leeds, you'll soon be able to get copies from Chapel Allerton's newest and we would add finest Independent record store / book store Radish. But, of course, it can be delivered to your door by clicking here.
So why dontcha...?

This month it seems that The Captain will be mostly surfing the internet airwaves. Why? I hear you ask: Well, we're a big hit with Pulse Unsigned Radio (Sky channel 905) at the moment, Vaselined Eyes having been playlisted on both their 'A List' show and their 'Hot Trax' show two weeks running.
Thanks for those of you who voted for us before; the lines, as they say, are still open. So get over there and give 'em a good clicking for us!
What's more, we're also on Kooba Radio's Johnny Yeah show tomorrow night, so make sure you listen in. As a special bonus, you don't even have to vote or 'owt.

Ok, so Daredevil Magazine's based in Germany. But we've still never been to Belgium...
Anyway, moving swiftly on, possibly our most enthusiastic review yet can be found at The Beat. We've never considered that we might become a global sensation before now, but we're willing to give it a go: As long as the hours are good.

When even the less favourable reviews say "Vocally and rhythmically Captain Wilberforce could be the Beatles catapulted forward in time by 40 years..." we must be on to a winner! Check out the full savaging here.
The Captain has never been to Belgium, but a day trip is surely imminent now we've had this review from Daredevil fanzine. What's more, following on from our modest success on the Volts Show (Acoustic performance and interview booked for October 16th!) we've been playlisted on Pulse Unsigned Radio's Hot Trax. There's more voting to be done if you feel up to it - But we know we can rely on you!

Mindfilming is officially released today! Go on buy a copy... And another one for a friend!

The reviews keep rolling in. High Voltage keep up the positive comments with some pinpoint reviewing that borders on psychic, whilst Vanity Project give a more succinct but similarly complementary assessment.
On the airplay front, The Volts Show are playlisting 'Teaching You To Swim' on Tuesday 19th April - It's a voting show, so we'd be reet chuffed if you'd click on the link and vote. For us obviously. Unless of course there's some other band you think deserves to win?
Well is there??
No, thought not.
Anyhoo, you can check out all the links to radio stations that are playlisting us here.

Hey up! Thanks to all of you who've ordered the album, it's been great getting the feedback. The Captain is basking in the glow of a job well done!
Today we're in the process of setting out our stall on KarmaDownload.com which will mean you can buy individual tracks online (compatible with Ipods and other newfangled MP3 player gizmos) for a bargain 89p. Obviously this is just for those types who like to cherry pick the sweetest musical fruits from our melodious tree rather than adventurously tasting the whole crop (to stretch an extended metaphor to it's limits), but we like to offer a variety of options...
Also, we're beginning to get some more responses to the Blue Tuxedo press mailout. Passion FM (now defunct 10/4/06) have playlisted a couple of our songs and Alternative Rock Review have heaped song-title praise (and more) onto us in the second review we've received for Mindfilming (All our reviews can be found here). Aw shucks.
