Captain's Log

26/09/04
Ah how the winter nights are drawing in! At this time of year The Captain always likes to bask in the warm glow of a computer monitor and surf the web. We suggest that you do the same, initially checking out our GarageBand.com page. Hopefully we should be getting some feedback from bands and music lovers around the world any day now. We've already come across the excellent Zillionaire from London on the GB site and found ourselves humming along blissfully.
Moving on: Cheers to everyone who sent us their comments on the pics and new songs, we're pleased with them too!. We'll have some new colour photos up at the end of the week.
Anyhoo, we made another cross-Pennines journey to Manchester last week to check out some of this year's 'In The City' hopefuls. Have to say there wasn't much that grabbed our furry collars and shook us around... until we checked out one of the fringe events with The Brothers With Different Mothers and Karma Cops (Grrr. Can't find their web-site) playing. Both were proper bands with tunes and everything!

In a spate of action unseen since the last time The Captain misplaced his I-pod, we update the site for the third time in 2 weeks. And with good reason; actual moody photos of actual moody musicians in strange rock'n'roll poses. You people don't know when you've got it good.
Thanks go to the fantabulous Delbertini and his consumate mastery of modern digital jiggery-pokery. Writes a decent pop tune too, y'know. (Del, not the camera). We're on a roll - stick us in your 'favourites' and we'll see you soon...

Quick! Click here for the new songs! With luck and a following wind the Captain should have at least another mini album (If not a fully fledged proper one) ready for your delectation by Christmas. There again, judging by the time it took us to get these songs finished, it may be more like 2010.
First 3 people to email in and tell us what they think of the songs will get an exclusive ltd edition Captain Wilberforce 5 song cd. Pop your writing hats on and off you go!
Photos due soonest - y'all come back now, y'hear...

Next week, 2 new MP3s to download, the week after our first photos. Acoustic gigs on the way soon. Promise. Oh, and those radio signals from outer space? Just Captain Wilberforce fans from another galaxy trying to get in touch...

We were abducted by aliens two months ago. Strange experience. Obviously it was tricky getting the site updated from the other side of Ursa Minor so it's only now that we're able to get back into the flow of things.
Whilst we were away we had a lot of time to re-evaluate the new songs that we'd demo'd and we came to the conclusion that, on balance, they weren't up to The Captain's usual high standards. So, there we were in a cantina in Mos Eisley watching the house band who happened to be covering old Dewy Albino songs. To be honest, it gave us a kick up the arse and straight away we decided to redouble our efforts and come up with a bunch of new, impossibly good songs. What with the time distortion effects etc, we'd managed to write them all before we got back and they're now well on the way to being 'the finished article'.
About bloody time too.
We swear on our battered copy of 'Hitch-hiker's Guide To The Galaxy' that we'll have some of these new songs up on the site before long.
In the meantime, anyone who wants us to turn up and play acoustically at a party, barmitzvah, fondue evening or superbowl half time spectacular, please email us and we'll be there. Anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Apart from the second moon of Venus - that crowd sucked. Or Croydon. Remember: Even in the deepest, darkest, black hole infested pits in the universe, we never stopped loving you....

Listened to Radio 1 recently? No, nor have we, I mean after Dave Lee Travis left it all went downhill didn't it? Anyway, Digital radio's the way forward (Thumbs up to BBC 6music) and of course there's streamed radio on the web. Funny we should mention that really, cos The Captain has been chosen for the playlists on a couple of internet stations. The first is Spanish program Cielo Liquido which plays an eclectic mix of signed and occasionally unsigned bands from across the world. The other isn't up and running yet but will be a new station on LIVE365 playlisted by CoolNoise, ezine, which we suggest you check out at your leisure. As for other news, we got some ace new shoes in the sales: Who knows they might even make an appearance at one of our unannounced gigs this weekend. If you spot them, feel free to come up and chat afterwards!
